The SPLASH Q&A with Shaye Strager

THE SPLASH INTERVIEW : Our monthly blog featuring amazing women doing some incredible things. We hope you enjoy reading about them!

— Anjanette

While New York City may have provided 20 years’ worth of fashion adventures, it is her return to the South that has given Shaye Strager a stylish playing field for her discerning eye. For most of her career she advised Manhattan clients, from celebrities to CEOs, on the fine art of styling and reported on trends as an authority for local television audiences. As a former spokesperson for the jewelry industry, she rallied designers and the media with baubles and bijou.

Shaye has transformed her career into a multi-city affair. She stays on-point with her clients, keeping both individuals and brands visually on-message. Much like a fashion editor, she curates a day-to-day style for her clients, offering wardrobe consultations with the professional scrutiny honed during years of working with designers to finalize their runway show looks. Strager creates a custom look book — with the client as the model — featuring their best go-to ensembles.

Shaye’s mission? To educate and empower her clients to make confident wardrobe choices; helping to identify their personal style and maintain it with updates that fit their budgets. For more information on Shaye and her fashionable practice, visit ShayeStrager.com

What do you love most about your business?

Empowering my clients with their wardrobe. They get to focus on the matters at hand without worrying about shopping or sourcing the things that make them look and feel their very best.

Tell us about the journey of how you built your business. How many years did it take you to get to where you are today?

There wasn’t one job—no matter how small or insignificant—that didn’t contribute to where I’m at today. I took the windy road into fashion. It started with TV news, a double major in Communications and English, and then other spokesperson jobs that led me to a life in NYC. Fashion simply spoke clearly to me. Yet, the multifaceted career that I had (which combined public relations, marketing and branding) leading into fashion styling prepared me fully for the expectations and demands of working with corporate clients.

What words of advice can you give other women entrepreneurs?

Be honest. Be present. Do your best. Never give up. Love the journey.

Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I’ve always been a gemstone junkie. I believe our Mother Nature has given us such rare, beautiful gifts. She’s my favorite artist. I feel a healing power when wearing gemstones and I’ve really loved using my Gem-Water bottle and decanter. People come to our house and are immediately intrigued. It opens the door to a great conversation about restorative healing and energy.

One thing is for sure: none of us expected 2020 to pan out quite like this. We’re writing to you from our home, where we’re hunkered down just like so many of you are. We are so thankful to be healthy, and we’re doing our best to laugh through the stress when we can, but this experience has been overwhelming in so many ways.
